Objectives
a)To impart pre-service training to Field Assistant and Veterinary Assistants
b)To impart in-service training to the field officers of Agriculture Department
c)To build the capacity of farmers (Farmer trainings)
d)To increase per unit yield of major crops, fruits, vegetables and livestock
Brief History and Achievement
i.Established in 1957-58 at Tarnab Farm under Village Aid Program
ii.In 1961 the Institute was handed over to Agriculture Department and it was shifted to the current Campus / site.
iii.One-Year FA Course till 1966 and afterwards 2-Years’ FA Course
iv.Two-Years’ VA Course was also introduced in 1978-79
v.1957 - 1966 (10 Years) → 684 Trainees passed out (One Year FA Course)
vi.1967 - 1978 (12 Years) → 508 Trainees passed out (Two Years’ FA Course)
vii.1979 - 2009 (31 Years) → 1727 FAs and 1797 VAs passed out
viii.2010 - 2012 (3 Years) → 149 FAs and 417 VAs passed out
ix.6691 officers / officials, 4485 farmers trained and 138 Exposure visits for farmers
x.Result of the current session will be announced within a week time
xi.Intends to introduce 3-Years’ Diploma for Field Assistants this year if allowed by the Administrative Department.
